Billy Thinx and the First Shadow

The right to remain human.

A Colorado geologist falls through a hole in the Rockies. His red heeler is waiting when he comes back. Then a buried war names itself.

Synopsis

Billy Thinx is thirty-two, a PhD geologist out of the Colorado School of Mines, when a bear and the backcountry drop him through the floor of the world. He is running for his life when the hole opens. He does not yet know that the chairs of Earth have other faces.

What waits below is a buried nest that was never meant to be found, the forward edge of a hidden empire of Draconian Governors who have sat behind kings, markets, and headlines for thousands of years. Billy escapes with his life, barely, and loses it once along the way. When he claws his way back into daylight, Sydney, his red heeler, is waiting above — and what has awakened in his blood makes him the one variable no empire can predict.

Rescued by allies from beyond Earth, Billy is drawn before a council of ancient star nations and chosen, against every expectation including his own, to carry humanity's last real chance at freedom. From secret labs under Denver to a war fought in frequencies and blood, he stands with Sydney at his side against an emperor forged by betrayal and a machine intelligence that answers to no throne at all.

Billy Thinx and the First Shadow is Book 1 of the Billy Thinx Saga: a cinematic first-contact epic about buried history, the cost of waking up, and one stubborn man who fell down a hole and came back holding a spark. In the right storm, a single spark can burn an empire down.
